Crafted at Powdermills - The Restaurant
Richoux
West End, London
Overview
Richoux traces its origins to 1909, when two French émigrés opened a patisserie and confectioner on Baker Street. Over the decades the name became familiar to Londoners in various forms — tea rooms, cafés and brasseries — known for French culinary integrity, consistency and an easy sense of occasion.
Today, Richoux has entered a new chapter at Langham Place besides Broadcasting House and just off Oxford Circus. By contrast to its lively location, the restaurant offers a welcome contrast: a place to pause, meet and linger.
The menu reflects this all-day approach, moving comfortably from breakfast and coffee through to lunch and dinner. French brasserie classics sit alongside wood-fired cooking, with a sense of generosity and quiet confidence rather than theatre. Tableside elements and the signature patisserie trolley add a touch of ceremony, while the room itself — with counter seating, tables and banquettes — feels instinctively comfortable, whether dining alone or with friends.
Rooted in French café culture but firmly part of modern London, Richoux remains what it has always been at its best: a dependable and welcoming place to dine well, whatever the occasion.
