The Orangery at Rockliffe Hall
Darlington, County Durham
Overview
Set within the quaint village of Hurworth, Rockliffe Hall’s signature restaurant The Orangery is the epitome of dining destinations. Overseen by Executive Chef Richard Allen, the five-star luxury hotel’s four AA Rosette restaurant offers an unrivalled dining experience, garden-to-plate ethos and exceptional wine pairings from some of the world’s most exquisite vineyards.
From the garden to the plate, every dish tells a story and the walled kitchen garden, tended to by talented Head Gardener Phil Mennell, the ingredients which make up most of The Orangery’s daily menus. Reflecting season, availability and the best-tasting produce hand-selected in its prime, Richard takes guests on a unique food journey with his carefully crafted a la carte and tasting menu experiences.
The wine philosophy at The Orangery is simple – each hand picked bottle demonstrates a sense of place. Head Sommelier, Daniel Jonberger, originally from Sweden, works with carefully chosen vineyards using sustainable methods, which demonstrate a pure and natural expression of their land to curate the restaurant’s concise selection of bottles.
