Omboo at Sopwell House

Sopwell House is a Georgian country retreat which was once the country home of Lord Mountbatten. Nestled within acres of Hertfordshire countryside, the historic Roman town of St Albans is the backdrop to this hotel which combines original features with contemporary design. 

Just 20 minutes from central London and set within rural Hertfordshire, Omboo is bringing a brand-new concept to the area; the first of its kind in St Albans. Whether celebrating a special occasion or meeting friends for a mid-week treat, Omboo offers the perfect setting, with a buzzing atmosphere, lively music and relaxed service.

Designed to encourage interaction and conversation between guests, there are no set starters or mains and each mouth-watering dish on the menu is delivered to the table as soon as it is ready, to be shared and enjoyed by all. Expertly prepared and plated by Chef Kasun Jayasooriya and his kitchen team, dishes include, sashimi sushi, gyoza and tempura. Farm and Ocean specialities feature succulent wok-fried ribeye with cherry tomato, garlic and spiced dipping sauce, and delicious Japanese pink tiger prawns, served with ginger garlic sauce. Plant based options see spicy aubergine with spicy soybean sauce and shiitake mushroom, Chinese cabbage with honey ginger and soy and red curry with shimeji, aubergine, okra and tofu.
