Chez Bruce
Wandsworth Common, London - South West
Overview
Opened back in 1995, Chez Bruce was the first of three very successful and ever-popular restaurants by chef duo Bruce Poole and Nigel Platts-Martin; the others being both Michelin star holders, La Trompette in Chiswick and The Greenhouse in Kew. Chez Bruce is one of a handful of feted restaurants from the '90s that is just as popular as it was back in the day. Perhaps because it tends to shun publicity and let the food, quality of ingredients, and the relaxed, informal yet thoroughly professional atmosphere speak for itself.
It has very much a neighbourhood restaurant feel about it, in a leafy Wandsworth setting, but with the warmth of a traditional French brasserie serving superb food in the most unpretentious of manners. The menu is a collaborative effort of Head chef Matt Christmas with Bruce Poole serving classical and regional French / Mediterranean cuisine.
