The Signature Restaurant at The Londoner
The NoMad Hotel
The Star
Alfriston, East Sussex
Overview
The transformation of The Star marks the first official joint venture for mother-daughter duo, Olga (sister of Rocco Forte) and Alex Polizzi (presenter of The Hotel Inspector series).
The striking Grade II listed 15th-century building, in the medieval village of Alfriston near the Seven Sisters and in the South Downs National Park, is close to the historic town of Lewes and both Glyndebourne Opera House, and Charleston.
The extensive renovation showcases Olga Polizzi's inimitable style while preserving the magnificent historical features. The 30 bedroom hotel offers a striking 60-cover indoor restaurant, and a inner courtyard and walled garden dining areas, both created as lovely spots for warm weather dining. In the summer, these outdoor areas make for the perfect Mediterranean oasis where the gardens are adorned with large terracotta pots filled with lavender, planted camellias and oak leaved hydrangeas. The kitchen serves up simple, unfussy dishes with a focus on clarity of flavour.
