The Dining Room at Lords of the Manor
The Chesterfield Hotel - Butlers Restaurant
Lainston House Hotel - The Avenue Restaurant
Winchester, Hampshire
Overview
Fancy a real escape to the country in lavish but welcoming style? Dating back to the late 17th century but with parts (an old chapel) going back as far as the 12th century, this is a magnificent stately home originally commissioned by Charles II as a new palace in Winchester. Now a five star country house hotel, it is part of the privately owned Exclusive Hotel group with renowned SEASON cookery school in the 63 acres of grounds.
The Avenue restaurant at Lainston House takes its name from the spectacular mile avenue of lime trees visible from the restaurant window and partially in the grounds. The Avenue is an intimate, elegant restaurant available for dinner dining and it regularly features as one of Hampshire's finest. Also enjoy afternoon tea in the Avenue restaurant, or Terraces when the weather is kind, or in the Drawing Room. We also recommend to take a walk in the grounds prior to or after your indulgent afternoon tea.
Thoughtfully prepared dishes offer an ideal blend of traditional cooking with simplicity, freshness and purity. The extensive menu is ostensibly English with a regional French influence.

Chefs table
The Avenue’s Chef’s Table is in the beautiful 17th Century Lainston House, and offers a truly unique dining experience. Adding to this interactive dining experience, instead of a traditional menu being present at the table, the chefs personally present and describe each dish to you.
Following your tasting menu, you have the opportunity to take a tour of the kitchen where your dishes have been prepared and can even get your hands dirty with the chefs during clean down if you really want to get stuck in!
