Hambleton Hall Restaurant
Rutland, Leicestershire
Overview
Hambleton Hall is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. It has been privately owned since 1980 by Tim and Stefa Hart, is a 'location perfect' Victorian mansion lovingly converted into the prestigious hotel as we know it today. It is nestled on top of a hill on an outcrop of land surrounded by Europe's largest man-made lake in the beautiful and picturesque village of Oakham.
Interior design remains traditional and fully in keeping. The restaurant is proud to say that it has the longest-retained single Michelin star in the UK, celebrating 38 years in 2020, and offers exceptional dining experiences worthy of a journey to Hambleton. Michelin star Head Chef, Aaron Patterson and his highly skilled team use the best local produce for seasonal dishes, and is renowned for producing award-winning game dishes such as grouse, partridge and woodcock.
They are also very proud of Hambleton Bakery on site which produces all breads and pastries for the restaurant. We recommend the tasting menu at lunch followed by a walk around the lake for a truly memorable luncheon. Sommelier Dominique Baduel selects the 400 bin list with proprietor Tim Hart, and cellar tours are available with Dominique to see the few thousand bottles. Fine Bordeaux, Burgundy, New World and Yquem wines are available by the glass, using the Coravin system.

Gourmet stays
Every room and suite at Hambleton Hall has been designed to provide exceptional standards of comfort. All rooms have been sympathetically decorated in a distinctive style, and all are luxuriously furnished with comfortable furniture and rich fabrics An experienced team aim to guarantee the highest level of personal service.
While the hotel maintains all of the charm and elegance of days gone by, facilities and services are at the level expected from a world-class hotel.
Private dining
There are two private dining opportunities at Hambleton Hall.
The Study Facing the front of the house, overlooking the lawn and gardens, this room ideally accommodates from 6 to 16 guests around one long table. Stylishly decorated, it lends itself to birthday parties as well as meetings. Party menus are produced by the same Michelin star team as the restaurant. Aaron and his team will create a bespoke menu for you depending on your favourite items. There is no 'banqueting kitchen'. Private parties are served the same individually prepared dishes as a la carte clients although it is not possible to prepare 15 different dishes at the same moment. For this reason Hambleton Hall asks you to choose one three course menu only (1 starter, 1 main and 1 dessert) for parties over 7 guests (max 80 guests), making allowance for those who have special dietary requirements. Alternatively you may like to choose their Tasting Menu, which is prepared for all your guests.
The Private Dining Room Adjacent to the Dining Room, this room has a huge window overlooking the terrace, parterre and lake. This room ideally accommodates from 8 to 22 guests around one long table or two round tables.
A party wine list is available highlighting wines in good supply, as well as magnums and other formats. Somelier Dominique will happily give recommendations.
