Take the road-well-travelled as we publish the favourite destinations voted by readers of Condé Nast Traveller in the publications’ 20th annual travel awards unveiled on 04th September 2017. Many selection factors are chosen with dining a key ingredient.

The top UK Holiday Hotel this year is the newly revamped Cliveden House in Berkshire, which came just ahead of the barn-storming Soho Farmhouse.

Twelve of the top 15 UK Business Hotels are in London, with Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London taking the top spot for its food, central Hyde Park location, bedrooms and deft service. Claridge’s, at number 2, impresses for its design and atmosphere and relative newcomer Rosewood London (3rd) represents real value for money.

London has been named the UK’s favourite city for the seventh year running, with its chefs and bartenders being voted among the most creative in the country, and exhibitions such as Hockney at the RA, drawing visitors in. Glasgow and Edinburgh scored highly too (2nd and 3rd respectively), while Bath, at number 4, turned heads with its neoclassical architecture.
