Beach House Restaurant at Oxwich Beach, Gower, Wales

In the cove at Portloe, an unspoilt Cornish fishing village, sits the remarkable coastal boutique hotel The Lugger. A building carefully extended from an original boat builder shed and house to surround the small water inlet where you can sit and dine both inside or out on the small balcony and watch the local fishermen bring in their hauls. Much of the catch is used in their exceptional restaurant creating amazing British cuisine. This is a sleek, dark timber and glass wonder cantilevered over Folkstone’s grand old harbour. Contrasting beautifully as worlds away from the traditional shops next door, this is a structure with floor to ceiling glass walls that give every table a view of the harbour, and on a clear day, France. The main section of the restaurant has lime washed oak flooring and dark timber tables, giving it a luxurious but simple feel. The room is surrounded by green leather banquettes, providing the perfect vantage to see the tide roll in and the fishing boats land the day’s catch.

Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, Port Issac, Cornwall

The highest Michelin rated coastal restaurant in the UK is the two star Restaurant Nathan Outlaw.
