In terms of fine dining, the north has never had it so good. The best restaurant currently in the UK according to many experts, foodies and critics alike is L’Enclume in Lancashire with 2 Michelin stars, 5 AA Rosettes and a 2016 Chef of the Year award.

1. Lord Crewe Arms, Consett, County Durham

In this beautiful country Inn, Chef Simon Hicks creates food that is endearingly honest, British and fresh as a daisy. Delicious, celebratory and nostalgic, the flavours demonstrate artistry and a passion for home-grown fare. Served with impeccable good taste, driven by the seasons and sourced from the Lord Crewe garden and smoke house, this is truly a copper bottomed dining experience.

2. The Gallery Restaurant at The Black Swan Hotel, Helmsley, North Yorkshire

 

The Gallery Restaurant is highly awarded and is adorned with original works of art which may also be bought to take home with you.  Savour delicious seasonal fayre, conjured up by internationally acclaimed, award winning Head Chef, Alan O’Kane.

3. The Oak Room at Holbeck Ghyll Country House Hotel, Windermere, Cumbria

Described as “a country house hotel with a heart” Holbeck Ghyll is one of the Lake District’s finest places to stay. New head chef Darren Cornish is keen to celebrate the culinary heritage of the North of England. The quality of the locally sourced ingredients and combination of flavours, produce exceptional cuisine, prepared with passion and flair.

4. Winteringham Fields, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire

Winteringham Fields is a fine dining restaurant with rooms nestled in a beautiful North Lincolnshire village. Colin McGurran creates a delicious and inspiring seasonal menu that mostly uses the restaurant’s own grown and reared produce alongside the best local and /or sustainable produce available. His unique style of cooking earned him winning dishes on the BBC’s Great British Menu in 2012 and 2014.

5. The Peat Inn, Fife, Scotland

The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine, who have successfully built on its very fine reputation as one of Scotland’s most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700’s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn.

6. Hirishi at Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, Windermere, Cumbria

Byron’s Restaurant celebrates the personality of Seaham Hall, set in beautiful surroundings, it is in the heart of the hotel. The menu focuses on British ingredients and celebrates local producers.

Member exclusively receives a 20% reduction from the total food and beverage bill when dining for lunch and afternoon tea Monday to Friday and dinner Sunday to Thursday. 10. Chez Roux at The Cromlix, Nr Dunblane, Perthshire

Following Andy Murray’s purchase of this elegant Victorian Perthshire Mansion it has now been transformed into a luxury five star destination and won this years AA Scottish Hotel of The Year. Chez Roux Restaurant, overseen by the legendary French Chef Albert Roux and run by award-winning Executive Chef Darin Campbell, is housed in the glass-walled conservatory overlooking the grounds and offers diners a ringside view of the chefs at work in their extensive open kitchen.
