Design Restaurants Loves…

We are all about posh stocking fillers this week – check these little lovelies out!

1.  Theo Fennell’s Silver Gilt Bee Hive Honey Pot

theofennellhoneypotLined with a crystal jar, this honey pot is a true homage to the work of our precious Bee friends. Did you know that a single honey bee worker makes about 1/12th of a spoonful of honey during her productive lifetime? At a price of £3,850 perhaps this lovely jar accurately reflects the true price of a bee’s hard work! Unfortunately it’s currently out of stock so it may not be appearing in DR’s Christmas stocking anytime soon. Here’s hoping the bee’s have a good hibernation over this winter though as we all now know that without them we are doomed… For more details go to http://www.theofennell.com

2. Tom Aikens Nut Cracker by David Linley

david linley-nut-crackerReduced from £550 to £367 this beautiful nut cracker gets our vote for form and functionality. Tom Aikens | LINLEY collection is a celebration of the skill of a renowned chef and a master cabinet maker and a great choice for gastronomes and aesthetes alike. The collection is sold in bespoke gift boxes with the joint partnership logo and a numbered certificate of authenticity. Nut’s have never been cracked quite so elegantly! 3. Bentleys Vintage Leather Picnic Case

leather-picnic-case_04Forget Post Office shares – the price of picnic baskets has doubled in the last ten years!  We featured a new Aston Martin version in this series earlier this year. This time we are in love with this dinky antique little set for two from specialist vintage travel goods finders, Bentleys of Knightsbridge. The set comprises a sandwich tin with enamel liner, two fluted vertical cut flasks and two plated beakers and four matching shot beakers one engraved ‘1st preis ladies handicap singles, Hannover, Mai 17th 1903’. The fittings show every sign of being unused and the price is set at £1,100. For enquiries go to http://bentleyslondon.com/shop/leather-picnic-case/.

4. Asprey Salt and Pepper Shakers

asprey salt and pepper shakesThese fabulous salt and pepper shakers are actually  in smoke mouth blown, hand cut English crystal with an Asprey hallmarked sterling silver cap. Asprey is synonymous with luxury and refinement and each Asprey product is made to exacting craftmanship using the finest materials. Mouth blown glass is a traditional method used to create the finest handmade crystal and we think this superb set would grace the most luxurious of tables. 5. Neal Feay Co. Wine Chiller

wine chillerThe cool winds that ripple across the South of France inspired Joe Doucet’s design for a series of wine chillers. The New York–based artist collaborated with Neal Feay Co., California., to produce the aeronautics-grade aluminum chillers, which feature engraved lines of different depths on a sleek surface. Each two-piece chiller’s base and top fit snugly around a bottle of white, keeping heat at bay and maximizing the amount of time the wine remains at an ideal drinking temperature. The aluminum case is designed to hinder heat conduction and retain the crispness of a prechilled bottle for hours. Introduced earlier this year, the chillers are available through Neal Feay and can be custom made to fit the buyer’s preferred bottle of white. Prices start at about $3,000. Not sure our wine ever hangs around long enough to qualify for a chiller but we love the look of it! For details go to www.nealfeay.com.
