British eccentricity seems to out do itself in a truly glorious way during the season and none more so than when there is a great sporting event to fuel food sales!

Here is our best of this year’s Wimbledon Themed Restaurants – those that are embodying the now well used phrase “Game, Set and Munch!!”

Daphne's Ice Cream Cart
Daphne’s Ice Cream Cart

Daphne’s, Chelsea

For the two weekends during the grand slam (29 & 30 June and 6 & 7 July), Daphne’s chefs have come up with a menu of bespoke ice creams, that will feature in the A La Carte menu and in a bespoke ice cream cart outside the restaurant. Flavours include Strawberry & Shortbread Smash, Peach & Prosecco Ace and Chocolate & Deuce Dolce di Latte Ripple.

The colourful cart will be outside the restaurant on Draycott Avenue from noon to 6pm. For more details go to www.daphnes-restaurant.co.uk.

Advantage 34, Mayfair

34, Mayfair

Advantage 34, the eccentric dessert from 34 in Mayfair, is a true Wimbledon Tribute. A feast for the eyes and tummies, Pastry Chef Alice Hall has created a green sprayed white chocolate bombe filled with Pimm’s ice cream, fresh English strawberries and strawberry sauce, set on chocolate soil, served with cucumber jelly, borage flowers and more fresh hot strawberry sauce. Morton’s Club, Mayfair

Ultra exclusive and filled with the famous and well-heeled, Morton’s Private Members Club has also showed its support for Wimbledon by decorating its iconic grade II listed exterior with dramatic giant hanging tennis balls. Unfortunately you can’t eat there unless you are a member of Morton’s (or perhaps they’ll make an exception for top seeds?).  For more details go to www.mortonsclub.com.

The Dorchester Wimbledon Afternoon Tea

The Dorchester, Park Lane

This iconic hotel is serving up a tennis themed afternoon tea.

Executive chef Henry Brosi has turned his talents to creating special desserts in the shape of tennis balls and miniature tennis courts.

These delicacies will be served with finger sandwiches, homemade scones, strawberries and cream and a glass of champagne from 22 June to 7 July. Visit www.thedorchester.com
