Alexis remains a partner in his renowned Michelin-starred restaurant Roussillon, where he has built his reputation for classic French fine dining, but is now focussed on his 70 seat new project, which will be called Gauthier at Lindsay House.
Alexis excels at refined cooking with plenty of vegetarian options. There will also be a formidable Francophile wine list, under the assured eye of Roberto della Pietra, former head sommelier at Roussillon, and the ground floor of the four-storey townhouse will become a wine shop and cellar. The dining room and two private rooms will be completely refurbished.
Irish chef Corrigan, who ran Lindsay House for more than a decade, closed the restaurant last May after opening his eponymous venture at London’s Grosvenor House hotel. At the time he told Caterer of the challenges the 1740s townhouse presented including its tiny kitchen and the sometimes dangerous Soho neighbourhood.
However, Gauthier said was not worried. “There has been a real revival of Soho and things have changed a lot in the last year or so,” he said. “I am very excited to take over such an iconic restaurant and hope to relaunch it as a top dining destination.
